WHY DO THIS?

Working backwards from the place you want to end up is a great way to make sure you’re planning a path that will take from where you are today to where you want to go.

RELEVANCE TO THE WHOLE FAMILY APPROACH?

Making changes that impact generational patterns can take a while to be fully realized. These sorts of changes require many milestones, stages, and events along the way. Mapping out these details can give families clarity on how their progress over time contributes to realizing a big goal.

Instructions

  1. Write down a big goal you have. Use the worksheet provided and write your goal in the box titled: destination.
  2. Now work backwards and write down some things that you will have to do in order to reach that goal. Fill in the boxes with other stages or or events that have to happen for you to make progress toward your goal.
  3. Once you feel you identified all the stages or events that lead you back to where you’re starting from now, pause and reflect. What you have created is a path for how you might approach making your big goal a reality.
